A special Handprint Ceremony celebrated a $100,000 grant by Hyundai Hope on Wheels® to Tackle Kids Cancer. The grant will help to fund the Hackensack Meridian Children’s Cancer Institute’s new AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) Program.
Adolescent and young adults face unique challenges when coping with a cancer diagnosis. It can be difficult for teens and young adults with cancer to manage the disease’s emotional and social challenges. The AYA program is working to close the gap on these areas of need – providing counseling, financial and support services, fertility preservation, survivorship services and more.
With the support from Hyundai Hope on Wheels, the AYA Program can continue to grow, including to help fund a nurse navigator position who will serve as a resource for patients and families.
For 25 years, Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW) has been on a quest to end childhood cancer and has become one of the nation’s leading funders of pediatric cancer research. The organization fuels cutting-edge research, ignites public awareness and works together with leading partners nationwide to help create a cancer-free future for kids.
Likewise, donations made to Tackle Kids Cancer directly benefit the essential clinical care, unique support services and groundbreaking cancer research needed to find a cure at the Children’s Cancer Institute at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.
